U-Dub-Dub

As an alumni of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater I have been very happy to see the performance of the school's football team over the past few seasons. They have appeared in the national championship game each of the last five seasons winning two of them including last season. As the No. 1 ranked team in NCAA Division III, they further cemented themselves as a D3 powerhouse with a 70-7 thumping of Dakota State. Go Warhawks!

I love seeing small schools do so well. Speaking of which, a surprising thing happened today in college football. At the time of posting of this article, five Division I FCS schools (formerly Division I-AA) defeated Division I FBS schools (formerly Division I). This includes Virginia Tech, the No. 13 team in the nation, losing to James Madison! You've got to be kidding me. V-Tech was considered by many to be a dark horse for the national championship. I think they fell off the horse and got trampled by it. What a joke! It is great to see smaller schools not only taking on but beating the bigger schools, but it even further proves that rankings by the "experts" mean nothing. Anything can happen in football which is what makes it such a great game.
